Metal Composite Material

MCM

What is MCM?

Metal Composite Material (MCM) panels have been used in North American construction for over 30 years. They are formed by bonding two metal skins to a highly-engineered plastic core.

Originally known as Aluminum Composite Material (ACM), the name of the product category has recently evolved to Metal Composite Material to reflect the introduction of new skin metals such as zinc, copper, stainless steel, and titanium. Aluminum, however, remains the predominant skin material.

MCM Benefits

When it comes to consistency, precision, and geometry; Metal Composite Materials are among the best the metal construction products industry has to offer. Exceptional flatness: MCM sheets are flat when manufactured and stay flat after installation. There is no “oil canning” or wrinkling because the skins are bonded to the core under tension, which produces a balanced panel.

Broad choices of finish: Aluminum and metal composite materials can be finished in virtually any color a building owner or architect desires. Zinc, copper and titanium panels are usually installed unfinished, utilizing the benefit of these natural materials to achieve a unique weathered look over time. Complex geometry and curves: Unlike nearly all other exterior cladding systems, MCM panels can be bent or curved as well as provide sharp angles.
