IN THIS WEEK’S FRIDAY5

Glass Magazine recently released their findings from a Fall survey with responses from Top Metal Companies. The report identifies key movements and trend points including sales and market data that reflect the strain of COVID-19, as well as challenges faced by top companies, such as supply chain problems and labor issues. Yet, despite all of the uncertainty from this year, the lion’s shares of businesses introduced new product lines and an even higher percentage plan to move ahead with product releases for 2021. Also included in the report is the list of Top Metal Companies themselves. Rather than organize the list by gross sales as was done in years’ past, the 2020 list is organized by workforce, which allows for the largest employers and leaders in the architectural metal segment to be represented, while providing opportunities to recognize additional types of companies.

MillerClapperton is honored to be on this year’s list of Top Metal Companies for the second consecutive year. For the complete list and to read this year’s industry report, click below.

It’s safe to say that industry experts could not have predicted a global pandemic and economic shutdown when they shared their optimism about the year ahead in 2020. In Metal Construction News’ 2021 State of the Industry, this year’s experts have retained their optimism and look forward to a more positive 2021. Below you’ll find a compilation of predictions and perspectives from the likes of chief economist at ConstructConnect and James Bush, Chair of the Metal Construction Association. Bush says “various sectors of the construction market, such as lodging, higher education and retail – will lag behind the anticipated second half recovery until the pandemic subsides, while other market segments, such as healthcare, warehousing and manufacturing – should be market leaders.”

The benefits of fiber cement cladding have contributed to its growing popularity in recent years. Not only is the material environmentally friendly, it is resistant to extreme temperatures and water, as well as living organisms like fungi or bacteria. The material is also strong yet lightweight, making it easier to fabricate and install so that large panel sizes of 4×8′ or 4×10′ can be cut, perforated, or milled to fit any design. Fiber cement manufacturer EQUITONE has traditionally offered panels in naturally occurring hues, and they’ve recently expanded their [tectiva] range with the addition of TE85 Graphite, which is inspired by great architecture and the stroke of a pencil. You can read more about this new development and “how to create in graphite” below.
