Designers are always looking for ways to push boundaries, but what about pushing design to the ocean floor? Architects and interior designers are creating unforgettable guest experiences for the elite traveler, including submerged restaurants and resorts. These new destinations are about as close as we can get to visiting another planet, at least for now, and their price tags are even out-of-this world. If you are lucky enough to be a wealthy tourist, for $50,000-a-night, you can stay at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island resort, which is submerged in the Indian Ocean. Also generating a lot of buzz lately is the restaurant, Under, designed by Snohetta, and located along Norway’s southern coast in the North Sea. The Shops at Dakota Crossing
Positioned along New York Avenue, which is one of Washington D.C.’s busiest thoroughfares, are The Shops at Dakota Crossing. The location enjoys high visibility to both commuters and area residents, and offers much needed retail, which the neighborhood was lacking. The project offers a diverse mix of local and national tenants including Marshall’s PetSmart, Chick-Fil-A, and Starbucks. For this project, MillerClapperton fabricated and installed nearly 14,000 square feet of Metal Composite Material.
