The Metal Construction Association recently announced its 2024 MCA Design Award winners. Among the most prestigious awards in the metal construction industry, the MCA Design Awards recognize member companies involved in the construction of outstanding building projects that use metal in significant and innovative ways.

MCA Chair Brian Partyka said, “Every year, I think the award recipients have reached the apex of design and creativity. And each year, I’m blown away all over again. The scope and array of the designs here showcase the many benefits of metal, including energy efficiency, durability, ease of installation and of course high design.”

The winners will be displayed on the showroom floor at METALCON, taking place October 30-November 1 at the Georgia World Congress Center.

First Redeemer Church is expanding its adult education center and adding a preschool to its building. The 40,000-square-foot addition will feature 30 classrooms, a library and welcoming lobby with amenities. The adult education expansion aims to provide a welcoming space for adults to gather, learn and grow in their faith. The project will also create a new entry point for the church, providing a seamless transition for individuals entering the building. The new entryway will inspire and uplift, with an inviting lobby that sets the tone for a meaningful and enriching experience within the church. A dramatic entrance and fellowship area will serve as the focal point, bringing people together and fostering community and connection. For the project, MillerClapperton will be fabricating and installing 5,200 square feet of MCM for the Adult Education center and 270 square feet of MCM for the preschool.

The natural environment offers a variety of physical, psychological and emotional benefits to people, while the built environment is our response to create shelter and spaces that are practical and yet beautiful to live, work and play in. Landscape architecture—the combination of built and natural design—is the intersection of these two environments. In an urban, rural or suburban setting, landscape architecture can turn unused or abandoned pieces of land into a natural-looking setting that allows for vibrant activities or peaceful repose. Around buildings, landscape architecture creates outdoor spaces that complement building designs, streetscapes or rooftops by adding nature and beauty to an otherwise harsh hardscape. This year’s Architizer A+ Awards brought to the forefront a variety of retail and shopping projects that redefine the boundaries of commercial architecture. Setting new benchmarks for immersive designs, these projects range from storefronts that seamlessly blend into their environments to sprawling retail complexes that invite exploration. Additionally, many of the projects highlighted are designed to be more than just places of commerce, but are envisioned as hubs that foster social interaction and contribute to the urban fabric.
