The 2024 Paris Olympics may have just wrapped up, but that hasn’t stopped people talking about the next summer games in 2028 in Los Angeles. Over the past decade, there’s been an effort to decrease the number of buildings built for the Olympics, and as home to multiple large sports teams, Los Angeles will be the first city that won’t be adding any permanent venues. Here’s a look at some of the venues across LA set to host the next summer games.

Expected to open by the Fall 2025 semester, the new, three-story Applied Engineering Building at Middle Tennessee State University will be home to the renowned mechatronics engineering program and other engineering technology courses. The 92,000-square-foot building will include specialized learning areas, a Makerspace area, and new robotic and automation labs. Designed to facilitate collaborative and hands-on learning, the state-of-the-art facility completes the school’s new Science Corridor of Innovation. For the project, MillerClapperton is fabricating and installing 13,000 square feet of profiled metal panels and 7,600 square feet of fiber cement panels.

While it’s almost impossible to come up with a definitive list of the most beautiful cities in the world, Architectural Digest has put together a list of some truly spectacular places. Ranging from remote Caribbean beaches to Japan’s cultural capital, here are cities with contemporary architecture and some that have preserved the past. To create this list, AD looked at architecture, cultural treasures, historical relevance, as well as natural appeal.

A new report from JLL notes that state and local governments are turning to building performance standards (BPS) to cut emissions and meet climate targets. While there are currently 13 U.S. cities that have a BPS in place, accounting for approximately 25% of all U.S. buildings as of early 2024, more than 30 additional cities have pledged to pass BPS by 2026 or earlier. According to the report, many of these cities are setting net-zero targets by 2050 or earlier.
