Sheet Metal Finisher

REPORTS TO

Production Manager and Lead Men

JOB PURPOSE:

Perform as a team member, conducting finishing operations on steel and aluminum weldments. Sand or grind metal surfaces to ensure parts are ready for paint, using handheld sanders, grinders, angle grinders and other finishing tools.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Work safely and always have on the correct PPE for a given task
  • Finishing of sheet metal cases and products
  • Grinding, buffing, and polishing of stainless steel, Aluminum
  • Provide weld clean-up and ensure parts are paint ready.
  • Inspect product surfaces for defects and repair if needed.
  • Labeling, stacking, and documenting the completed product
  • Basic machine maintenance
  • Movement of finished materials into appropriate staging areas
  • Quality control and reporting
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Must be at least 18 years
  • Must be able to pass E-Verify
  • Must wear approved safety glasses, equipment, gear, etc. (PPE) at all times
  • Must have experience with operating palm sanders, grinders, and angle grinders.
  • Must be able to use hand tools such as a screw gun, caulk gun, protractor, snips, etc.
  • Must have attention to detail and be able to follow directions
  • Must be in well enough physical shape to occupy and work in a fast-paced environment. The lifting of 50lbs., bending over, standing for extended periods of time, and other physical activities are required for this position
  • Must be willing to work in multiple areas of the Production shop
  • A high degree of accuracy and exactness is extremely important in the performance of this job
  • It is sometimes necessary to work additional hours above and beyond a typical 40-hour work week to complete our schedule needs. Overtime and weekend work are required
  • Always present yourself in a professional and courteous manner
