Arlington Transit (ART) is Arlington County’s local transit system, and was in need to address parking, operations and maintenance for its growing bus fleet. ART has significantly increased its number of routes and services over the past 10 years and plans to continue growing over the next 20 years, supported by a fleet of more than 100 buses.
Located on three parcels of land at the southern edge of Arlington, VA, the project includes a 45,433-square-foot, three-story operations and maintenance building and a 65,096-square-foot, four-tier parking structure. The LEED Platinum-certified facility has 22,000 square feet of on-site solar panel that offset approximately 67% of its annual energy demand. The facility will perform regular preventive bus maintenance, repairs and other unscheduled maintenance work, while also including administration and operations functions and parking for buses and staff.
For this project, MillerClapperton fabricated and installed Metal Composite Material (MCM) panels, Profiled Single-Skin metal panels, and 3/16-inch perforated panels.
