#2 THE WORLD’S MOST LIVABLE CITIES

A new list from Mercer, the human resource consulting company, ranks the world’s most livable cities – a ranking they’ve published for the past 20 years.  The 2018 Quality of Living Rankings looked at 450 cities and compared availability and quality of consumer goods, economic environment, housing, medical considerations, transportation and recreation among others.  Within the list’s top 10, you’ll find cities full of arts and culture, but only one city in North America made the cut.  Think you know which one?  Read more here.

#3 TECH REPORT 5.0: THE HUMAN TOUCH

A recent article from Building Design + Construction explores how studying humans at a behavioral level can produce better buildings.  The authors of a new book, “Cognitive Architecture: Designing for How We Respond to the Built Environment,” put forth the idea that the more we know about human behavior, the better we can design for it.  The idea is straightforward: The various tools, technologies and spaces humans use on a daily basis should be designed for-and adapt to-us, not the other way around.  How can architects design spaces that function as intended?  Read more here.

#4 PROJECT SPOTLIGHT

Mercedes-Benz North American Headquarters
MBUSA’s new corporate headquarters celebrated it’s grand opening last month, which was covered by GaFollowers.com.  The 12-acre site at the corner of Abernathy and Barfield roads, the latter of which has been changed to Mercedes-Benz Drive.  The 200,000-square-foot project will house 1,000 employees and features a huge atrium and open-plan office spaces with floor to ceiling windows.

For this special project, MillerClapperton fabricated and installed Metal Composite Material panels, Sunshade panels, Screenwalls and Profiled panels.  Nearly 9,000 square feet of Metal Composite Material are featured at the entrance as the backdrop to the infamous Mercedes-Benz logo while the entire entry is shaded with more than 4,000 square feet of Sunshade panels and the Screenwalls offer a unique element to tie in the parking garage.
