Contribution to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), The LEED program, sponsored by the United States Green Building Council (UGBC), is the primary environmentally focused building certification in the United States. In its Building Design and Construction version, buildings may qualify for various levels of LEED certification based on the total number of points achieved in various categories.
There are two versions of LEED being utilized today, version 4 and version 3. Panel systems utilizing Metal Composite Material from approved manufactuers may contribute toward LEED certification in a number of Credit categories.
Related to version 4 specifically, the building products disclosure is met by the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), which was recently updated by the Metal Construction Association (MCA). These documents are critical elements for life cycle assessment (LCA) implementations of important programs (such as LEED) that are used by the architectural community to assess the environmental impacts associated with the use of products and systems.
