#1 101 TOP PRODUCTS



Readers and editors of Building Design+Construction have selected their top products for the past 15 months in the second annual 101 Top Products report.  The report offers a snapshot of the products found to be the most interesting, innovative or useful in the past 15 issues of the magazine. 

Products were organized across eight categories including Building Envelope and Building Systems.  Read more here
 


#2 INTERSECTION OF PHOTOGRAPHY AND ARCHITECTURE



A new exhibit at the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill, New York explores how photography captures the built environment.  The exhibition called Image Building: How Photography Transforms Architecture features 57 images by 19 photographers, from glittering night views of 1930s New York to a half-finished Caracas skyscraper.  The exhibition is on display in New York until June 17, at which time it will travel to the Frist Center for Visual Arts in Nashville, TN.  You can see more of the featured photographs in this article.   
 


#3 HOW ARCHITECTS HELP MAKE CITIES MORE LIVABLE



Architects play an important role in making cities more livable.  A recent article from ‘Blueprint For Better’ looks at new ways to approach community development when faced with 21st century environmental and political challenges.  Six architects and designers share their thoughts on working with civic leaders to transform cities that work for everyone.  The conclusion: collaboration is the key to creating happier, healthier, more livable cities.  Read more here.
 


#4 PROJECT SPOTLIGHT

Augusta-Richmond County Municipal Building
The city of Augusta, Georgia underwent an ambitious renovation and modernization project to transform the face of their 60-year old Municipal Building.  The elevator tower, which faces Telfair Street was established as the new main entrance for the building.  For the project, MillerClapperton fabricated and installed 14,500 square feet of Metal Composite Material to complete the building’s enhanced design.

#5 CURRENT PROJECT



Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital
Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital is a new, state-of-the-art pediatric hospital on a 65-acre green space in Baton Rouge, LA.  The six-story, 364,000 square foot hospital will feature 80 hospital beds with space to grow to 130 beds.  The facility will also have an emergency room, a surgical unit, a dedicated oncology unit, and playgrounds on every floor.

For the project, MillerClapperton fabricated nearly 53,000 square feet of Metal Composite Material panels in five colors, which will be installed using MillerClapperton’s rainscreen attachment system.
