The Copper Development Association has chosen 11 winning projects for the 2022 North American Copper in Architecture Awards (NACIA) program. This year’s top projects were selected for their considerable presence and use of copper, and the significance of their projects – historic, modern, or otherwise. A panel of industry experts judged the projects on the following criteria: copper system design, integration of copper alloys with overall building design, craftsmanship of installation, excellence in innovation or restoration as applicable. Construction is underway for an expansion and changes to Marshall Medical Center in Boaz, AL. The main hospital entrance will be relocated to the north end of the hospital and will include a new drop-off canopy. The ground floor expansion will also include a cafeteria, coffee café, conference room, restrooms, and gift shop while the second floor will house consultation for outpatient surgeries. The third floor will have a 18-bed ICU and 32-bed inpatient section. The project also includes a medical mall linking the expansion to the existing physician office building. MillerClapperton will fabricate and install 4,800 square feet of Metal Composite Material for the project.
