Metropolis Magazine has released its annual cities listings. After surveying 80 leading architecture and design professionals, they have whittled it down to just 10 cities for the world’s top design powerhouses. Of the world-famous metropolises to make the list, two cities are in the U.S. – can you guess which ones? This year’s results turned up the usual suspects as well as some unexpected newcomers. We were surprised by a growing craft scene in one major European city. See the list here.

Could it be true? Is building Burning Man more fun than attending? Fast Company shares a new mini-doc from San Francisco-based photographer and vlogger that follows the surveyors and builders who plan the city’s half-moon grid. The video demonstrates that the world-renowned event’s planning and construction is a lot more mundane – and a lot more fun. See more here. You can also read about how Burning Man has become a testing ground for extreme architecture here. By pairing a harsh climate with the festival’s sustainable ideals, designers, architects, and engineers have the opportunity to test prototypes, which have the potential to change how we respond to natural disasters.

It’s the final push and we’re getting closer to the finish line. This is the last week to help us reach our goal of raising $20,000 to help Brent & Kyle Pease get to Kona, Hawaii to compete in the Ironman World Championship. They are the only duo invited to this year’s race and we are honored to play a part in supporting these two brothers who are an inspiration to all of us.
Beyond the accomplishment of competing at the highest level of endurance sports, they have the opportunity to share their message with the world and ultimately grow their Foundation. We hope everyone will be as inspired as we are so more persons with disabilities will have a chance to compete. We are so thankful to everyone who has made a donation to help us get to this point. If you haven’t made a donation yet, can you help us reach our goal? No gift is too small and every donation counts. Let’s get the Pease brothers and their equipment to Kona!
