#1 INTRODUCING MILLERCLAPPERTON CARES

MillerClapperton Cares is a new philanthropic initiative put forth by the company.  For several years, we have enthusiastically supported the American Red Cross by holding an annual Blood Drive in honor of the company’s late co-founder, Ted S. Miller.  It has been a way for us as a company to not only honor his legacy, but also as a way to give back to our community.

The opportunity for us to do more as a company recently presented itself, and we embraced the challenge by not only committing ourselves to a great cause, but also pledging to make this an annual initiative to support many worthwhile charities.  We put our heart into our work.  Now it’s time to apply this same passion to our communities.

For the inaugural year of MillerClapperton Cares, we have selected the Kyle Pease Foundation as one of our first charitable recipients.  We invite you to learn more about this great initiative and the amazing work of the Kyle Pease Foundation here.  Their message of inclusion and perseverance is an inspiration to all of us here at MillerClapperton and we think you will be inspired too!  Learn more about MillerClapperton Cares and how we are getting involved by watching this video.

#2 WORLD’S MOST BEAUTIFUL LIBRARIES

After a recent article published by Forbes outraged library lovers everywhere by suggesting they should all be closed and replaced with Amazon bookstores, the internet united to defend our public libraries.  Besides free books and free internet, libraries are at the center of our communities, providing community events, classes and many other services.  But, libraries are also symbols of knowledge – architectural monuments to learning.  In a recent article from Fast Company, they shared the work of photographer Massimo Listri, who has spent the past three decades documenting the world’s most beautiful libraries.  See more here.

#3 AIA BILLINGS POSITIVE FOR 9TH CONSECUTIVE MONTH

According to a new report from the American Institute of Architects (AIA), architecture firm billings slowed in June but remained positive for the ninth consecutive month.  June’s Architecture Billing Index (ABI) shows that demand for architecture firm services continues to improve across all sectors.  Business conditions are beginning to vary across the country, however.  Read more here to see which region is performing the best and which regions have essentially remained flat.
