#3 CONSTRUCTION AND THE US ECONOMY

According to a report released by Associated Builder and Contractors (ABC) last week, “the private construction industry’s value added as a percentage of the nation’s real gross domestic product (GDP) rose to 4 percent in 2016, the highest level since 2009.  The report also shows annual growth in real construction spending, which rose 3.5 percent in 2016.”

A total of 37 states benefitted from the rise in construction activity and 3 of the top 5 states with the fastest growth are in the South.  This included our home state of Georgia, which tied with South Carolina for second place.  Click here to read the complete article.

#4 PROJECT SPOTLIGHT

Maize Early Childhood Center

The Maize Early Childhood Center welcomed its first group of students in August of this year.  The center is the first stand-alone preschool specifically built for early learning in the Sedgwick County School District in Kansas, which will serve 300 children for the 2017-2018 school year.

The project features 2,505 square feet of Metal Composite Material, which highlights the school’s entryway and rotunda.  The building is completely geared toward early childhood and designed to accommodate children with special needs.  The school’s goal is to welcome all children and to meet all of their needs as long as they have the space.
