As we look back at 2019, it has been a remarkable year for architecture and design. And, helping us appreciate all of the inspirational works across the world are the photographers dedicated to sharing these incredible projects with us. Without those photographers, we would miss out on the boundless creativity of this field, so let’s take a few moments to enjoy the most influential architectural photographs of the year.

Joining some of the most iconic buildings to grace the Chicago skyline, the new Vista Tower has become the third tallest building in the city. The 95-story glass and concrete tower will house luxurious 1-,2-3-, and 4-bedroom residential condominiums and the 5-star Wanda Vista Hotel. At 1,191 feet and adjacent to Lake Michigan, Vista Tower is poised to become one of Chicago’s major architectural focal points. For this project, MillerClapperton is fabricating 24,141 square feet of Metal Composite Material for column covers, the main hotel entry canopy, main residential canopy, as well as the ballroom entry canopies.

This was another record-breaking year for tall buildings. 2019 was a remarkable year as 26 supertall buildings (980 feet or taller) were completed, the most in any year. This is significantly higher compared to last year’s record of 18 supertalls according to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.
