In Building Enclosure’s latest article, ‘Ensuring Water-Resistive Barrier Performance in Innovative Wall Designs’ by Adrian Jacobs and Heather Paschal, challenges and new innovations in building envelopes are exposed. 

Concern stems from industry standard codes and tests that do not take into consideration many factors that impact water resistant envelopes such as fasteners, angles, environmental elements, or installation.  To overcome these obstacles and to produce more innovative wall designs, architects and building engineers will need to focus on a more holistic and collaborative approach to future advancements.
