According to The American Institute of Architects (AIA), Architecture Billings Index (ABI), architecture firm billings expanded in November, which is the strongest billings growth figure since January. “Despite some concerns about a potential economic downturn, architecture firms continue to report strong billings, inquiries, and new design contracts,” said AIA Chief Economist Kermit Baker, Hon. AIA, PhD.
The value of new design contracts also showed solid growth in November, indicating that there is plenty of work to come in the next few months. The strongest billings growth was seen in the Northeast region, while growth has slowed somewhat in the Midwest. To read more from the latest report, click here.

The Oculus
The west end zone of Clemson Memorial Stadium has a new statement piece known as the Oculus. The iconic structure now serves as the center of the Clemson Athletic District and entrance to the One Clemson Museum. The tower’s dramatic height tops out at about 140′ and compliments the Tillman bell tower, which are in alignment across campus from east to west.
Creating a sense of balance against the stadium’s large size, the tower enhances the fan experience by creating a logical transition from the pedestrian scale at street level to the multi-level scale of the stadium. For this project, MillerClapperton fabricated 6,101 square feet of High-Pressure Laminate panels, which were installed on the back wall and interior facing portions of the tower.
