“Apart from being well-known for its conductive properties in electrical wiring and industrial uses, copper is also famous for its health benefits (the mineral, after all, is found in all tissues of the human body). People across the world have also been using copper utensils to store water or serve food. And while copper is commonly used in its raw state, alloys like brass and bronze have also remained popular for centuries.

In design, copper has been used in a variety of ways ranging from small lighting fixtures and vases to entire building façades. The metal’s earthy tone and malleable nature make it a very handy material in a designer’s arsenal. The Altanta BeltLine is an ever-expanding rail-to-trail corridor that brings together various parts of Georgia’s sprawling capital city, Atlanta – where MillerClapperton also calls home. The areas around the BeltLine have experienced a flurry of activity with the growth of retail, dining, and housing options, which is part of a larger revitalization effort in Atlanta. A new mapping tool called the “Investment Data Explorer” is designed to “enhance transparency and improve equity in BeltLine investments.” This allows stakeholders and residents to more easily understand the changes underway in their own backyards and users can track said investments across five impact areas: housing, parks and trails, transit and streetscapes, economic development, and arts and culture.
