#1 STATE OF THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY 2018

Economists from four of the leading construction industry associations share their outlook for the general construction industry in this article from ForConsutrctionPros.com.  For 2018, this proved a tougher task given economic uncertainties and the growing labor shortage.  According to Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. (ABC), momentum for the volume of building construction seen in 2017 is expected to stretch into 2018.  Read the full article here.
 


#2 THE WORLD’S GREENEST CITIES

A team of researchers from MIT’s Senseable City Lab developed an algorithm to rate the world’s greenest cities.  Beyond just quantifying parks and green spaces, the method takes images from Google Street View and processes them through an algorithm that estimates the percentage of each image that corresponds to trees and other types of vegetation.  This article lists the top ten greenest cities according to the Senseable City Lab study with four of the cities on the list located in North America.
 


#3 MIXING EXTERIOR MATERIALS

#4 PROJECT SPOTLIGHT

Atlanta Metropolitan College | Academic Sciences Building 
The Academic Sciences Building at Atlanta Metropolitan College is designed to improve availability of state-of-the-art teaching laboratories and classrooms.  The signature building is located at the main entrance to the campus and establishes the College’s identity along Metropolitan Parkway.  For this unique structure, MillerClapperton fabricated and installed more than 5,500 square feet of Fabral single skin metal panels that span the covered walkway and highlights the building’s architectural details.

#5 CURRENT PROJECT

Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Headquarters
The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma is the United States’ third largest tribe located in the heart of Southeastern Oklahoma.  Their new central headquarters campus is a five-story building located on 80-acres, which will serve its 200,000 members.  The new campus will allow them to consolidate 30 different offices located across Durant, OK into one central location.  For this project, MillerClapperton fabricated and installed 106,000 square feet of Metal Composite Material panels.
