2020 opened up major opportunities for the global construction industry and in the coming years, we expect to see a dramatic shift in both public and private sectors as the focus intensifies on sustainability and greater efficiency. The pandemic certainly accelerated the pace of change and the industry is poised to become stronger and more resilient as we establish new workflows, partnerships, and mindsets.

Autodesk, the global construction software provider, surveyed business and thought leaders from around the world to glean insights about what they think will be the key factors to help build industry resiliency in 2021 and beyond.

Phase II of renovations at Russ Chandler Stadium are underway at Georgia Tech to meet the school’s vision for its nationally renowned baseball program. The project includes the demolition of the existing one-story building and construction of a new, 25,379-square-foot, two-story structure. A concourse-level atrium will serve as an iconic point of entry to the stadium and on non-gamedays will convert into a teaching auditorium for Tech baseball and a venue for third-party rentals. Additional upgrades include a premium suite area with a terrace club view overlooking the field and the Atlanta skyline and a third-base concourse, which includes new restrooms, concession stand, and an outdoor plaza. MillerClapperton is fabricating and installing 1,370 square feet of Metal Composite Material and 3,050 square feet of Profiled Single Skin for the project.

Georgia has been a hotbed for growth in recent years with the Atlanta Metro area adding more than 730k residents between 2010 and 2019. With a projected additional 2.9 million people by 2050, there are no signs of slowing down. Despite the pandemic, essential building has continued throughout the state, but some industry challenges remain, such as disrupted supply chains and the ongoing skilled labor shortage.
