The challenges airport architects face today are far more complex than those they experienced just a few decades ago. It seems as if the romance of travel has all but died, but the airport of the future can possibly restore half the fun of getting there.Terminals are growing ever larger to accommodate more passengers and more flights, and security remains a paramount concern. So, how can architecture improve what is generally a dismal experience for air travelers? Architectural Record explores the forces governing airport design and looks at three airports that exemplify the future of air travel.

A new high school is being built in Lincoln, CA for the Western Placer Unified School District. The new building will accommodate the growing Lincoln community with room for over 2,000 students, and the first phase of the project will include classrooms, an administrative building, athletic stadium and field, space for performing arts, and staff and student parking. For the project, MillerClapperton is fabricating 8,300 square feet of High Pressure Laminate material.
