#1 DESIGN TRAVEL DESTINATIONS IN AUGUST

Summer is nearly over, but there’s still time to take that trip!  Architectural Digest shared the 5 places art and design lovers will want to visit in August.  From the East Coast to the West Coast, there’s a place and a reason to plan a visit.  Beyond the sun and sand, Nantucket, Massachusetts is also host to a design festival at the beginning of the month or you can head West to California’s Wine Country for the Art in the Redwoods Festival.  Read about more great destinations here.

#2 TRANSIENT ARCHITECTURE

Photographer Pamela Littky spent a summer travelling to fairs across the U.S. for a new photo series called ‘American Fair’.  She noticed certain details in fair architecture that seemed to be from different eras and captured a piece American vernacular that can be easy to miss.  “Choosing to shoot at a fairground seemed like a good backdrop in which to capture portraits and landscapes of quintessential Americana,” said Littky.  Read more about her travels and see more photos from the series here.

#3 DOGS TAKE CENTER STAGE

A few weeks ago, we featured cats and architecture, fanning the flames of the eternal debate over cats vs. dogs.  We’re animal lovers over here, which means we can’t really pick sides.  We knew we couldn’t leave out the dogs and thankfully ArchDaily agreed.  They released a follow-up article featuring a collection of photographs where dogs take center stage along with great architecture.  We invite you to take a break and let these dogs put a smile on your face.  See more here.
