IN THIS WEEK’S FRIDAY5

The city we call home, Atlanta, (aka Terminus) was founded in 1837 and has since become a thriving metropolis and one of the country’s fastest growing cities. Considered the capital of the Southeast, the city is home to many notable projects designed by such luminaries as Philip Johnson, I. M. Pei, and Marcel Breuer, who have collectively reshaped the city’s profile. What did our city look like in the early days? Take a journey back in time with a collection of images from the AJC that showcase Atlanta’s buildings and skyline from 1905 – 1929. And, if you are looking for something to do this weekend, you can tour the city’s historic downtown by taking a guided architecture audio tour, created by the Atlanta Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Learn more about the tour here.
