#1 FIREWORKS BY DESIGN

What would it be like to design some of the biggest fireworks displays in the world?  How about 400 separate events in one evening?  Jim Souza is the chief show designer of the five-generation family business, Pyro Spectaculars and he offers a behind the scenes look at what it takes to pull off the most anticipated displays of the year.  From music selection to managing shell size based on site selection and surrounding obstructions such as buildings, it’s a massive undertaking in logistics and artful design.  Click here to read more.

#2 FIFTY TERMS EVERY ARCHITECT SHOULD KNOW

Architects are known for using niche words that are sometimes unnecessarily complex, which can be confusing for those of us who aren’t in the know.  To catch us up to speed, ArchDaily has compiled a list of 50 urban planning terms that may be unfamiliar but are important to know.  Extra points if you know what the acronym “YIMBY” stands for.  Curious?  Click here for more.

#3 FACADES WITH RECYCLED MATERIALS

Part of sustainable design is finding unique ways to incorporate recycled materials.  This week, we explore facades that have gone beyond the typical uses of plastic and glass.  Innovative materials such as plastic chairs and mattress springs not only make a statement, they also create an attractive facade for these 16 remarkable projects.

#4 PROJECT SPOTLIGHT
