The country’s top contractors are relying on relationships to navigate industry challenges, according to Engineering News-Record (ENR). Despite the disruptions caused by supply shortages, skilled labor, and longer than usual leads times, contractors are finding a way forward as they enter into a busy construction year.

“The wide reaching effects of these challenges are boosting demand in some markets while reducing it in others. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held last month to celebrate the opening of the new Science Center at Contra Costa College. The 3-story, state-of-the-art Center features a 55-seat planetarium and a stargaziing observation deck, in addition to laboratories, classrooms, and offices. The project was also recognized with the California Community Colleges Board of Governors Energy and Sustainability Award for drastically reducing their carbon footprint. MillerClapperton fabricated 5,900 square feet of Metal Composite Material for the project.

According to the latest report from The American Institute of Architects (AIA), architecture firms have reported increasing demand for design services for the fifteenth consecutive month. AIA’s Architecture Billings Index scores for both new project inquiries and design contracts moderated slightly, but remained strong.
