West Tennessee Healthcare’s new 28,179-square-foot microhospital replaces Bolivar’s only hospital, originally built in 1974, with a modern facility serving rural Hardeman County and the surrounding communities. The new state-of-the-art facility brings a 24/7 emergency department, inpatient beds, outpatient care, and advanced imaging, along with negative pressure isolation rooms for infection control. MillerClapperton is fabricating and installing 4,100 square feet of Metal Composite Material (MCM) panels, giving the facility a clean, modern exterior that marks the next chapter for healthcare in the community.

The Copper Development Association named eight winners in its 2026 North American Copper in Architecture Awards, spanning new construction and historic restoration across the U.S. and Canada. The class runs from a conservatory and a recreation facility to university and government buildings and two corporate headquarters, including the restored home of the oldest property insurance company in America.

We all know that the construction industry, like many industries, is facing a skilled worker shortage. While many still view a job in the trades as a fallback option, the math tells a different story. The skilled trades offer immediate job opportunities with strong earning potential and long-term security without the burden of student loans. Additionally, most of the jobs in the trades are immune from AI taking their place.

One of architecture’s most iconic images shows 11 ironworkers perched high above New York City, sitting on a beam with lunchboxes in their laps as they smoke and talk. Taken in 1932 during construction of Rockefeller Center, the staged photograph was created to promote the new skyscraper. In her new book, Rockefeller Center archivist Christine Roussel explores the art, architecture, and social history behind the famous photograph.
