#1 ANNUAL METAL ARCHITECTURE SURVEY RESULTS

The results are in for the 33rd Annual Metal Architecture Architects Survey. (Try saying that three times fast!) Unsurprisingly, at the top of the list is the increased shortage of skilled labor, which grew even greater in 2018 as a result of the industry’s robust expansion. The survey also reflected that as overall construction numbers increased in 2018, the numbers specific to metal construction also increased. According to the 2019 Dodge Construction Outlook from Dodge Data & Analytics, U.S. nonresidential construction is expected to match its 3 percent increase from 2018 in 2019.  Read more from the survey here.

#2 BARCELONA’S ARCHITECTURAL SYMMETRY

Using a drone to take aerial shots of buildings around Barcelona, Hungarian photographer, Marton Mogyorosy captures the beautiful symmetry of the city’s architecture. Included in his latest photography series called ‘Barcelona From Above’ is Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill’s Walden 7, which is pictured above. #3 WORLD’S HEALTHIEST CITIES

What does it mean to be a healthy city? Is it the availability of good-for-you food options, ample green space, or the number of spas, or a combination of several data points? TravelSupermarket analyzed a number of factors to reveal the world’s healthiest cities. In addition to the data points above, average sunlight hours, access to gyms & fitness centers, as well as yoga & pilates centers were taken into account. Rounding out the top 10 were two major US cities – can you guess which ones? We were more surprised by which cities are missing. Read more here

#4 PROJECT SPOTLIGHT

Lynnhaven Mall
The owner of the mall wanted to convert the mall from two-stories to a single level to create an open concept.  Since most of the second floor was occupied by food court tenants, a new food court was constructed and once completed, tenants were relocated to make room for additional renovations.  For this project MillerClapperton fabricated and installed 360 square feet of Metal Composite Material panels.
