Metal Architecture has released the results of its annual Architects Survey and according to respondents, last year was a good year for architects. “Across the board – metal roofing, metal walls, metal building systems, and light-gauge steel framing reported increased activity when compared to 2021. Many of the survey takers saw as much as a 15% increase in the number of projects they specified with these materials. That’s not surprising in the face of the overall construction market.” While construction starts increased more than anticipated in 2022, Dodge Data & Analytics is reporting that construction will be flat for 2023.
Survey takers were still optimistic though and one third reported they will do more metal roofing and wall panel projects in 2023. In 2022, 63% of survey takers reported they did at least one metal wall panel project – an increase of 18.5% when compared to 2021. The largest increases in 2022 were seen in the South and West regions as compared to the previous year, while the largest percentage of Metal Composite Material was specified in the West.
