#1 ARCHITECTURE TOPICS TO KNOW ABOUT IN 2018

Editors from Plataforma Arquitectura collaborated and created their predictions for the architectural movement in 2018.

Some topics include understanding the most talked about generation taking over – the millennials. And how this generation functions. More specifically, how they occupy and use space will be crucial for the future of architecture and buildings. The behaviors, habits, and even careers of millennials require flexible, modern, and multifunctional space.

Another interesting topic discussed is the need for architects to have more hands-on experience and knowledge of building materials, as well as the construction process. A more cohesive process is being instilled in architects nowadays, and experts say this comes from being on the job site.

#2 5 TRENDS FOR THE BUILDING INDUSTRY IN 2018

Let’s take some advice from the construction industry expert and Director of Alabbar Energy and Sustainability Group (AESG), Saeed Al Abbar, and discover his thoughts for the five building industry trends for 2018 in his interview with Global Construction.

These five trends all relate to the fact that the AESG has nearly doubled in size in the 2017 calendar year. Abbar attributes this growth to the company’s employees striving to do the best job they can possibly do, not searching for new business.

Going further into his business model and what he believes the most successful building trends for 2018 include: Zero and near-zero energy buildings, fire and life safety, commissioning, value engineering, and management of existing assets.
