Last week, Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) released their 2020 Top Performers list, which recognize ABC member contractors’ achievements in safety, quality, diversity and project excellence ranked by work hours, with special designations identified. Turnberry Ocean Club is an ultra-luxury, oceanfront condo development located in Sunny Isles Beach. The 54-story, contemporary, glass tower sites adjacent to the Porsche Design Tower and features 154 waterfront condo residences in addition to six floors, or 70,000 square feet of amenities including the $100 million Sky Club. For this project, MillerClapperton is fabricating 16,621 square feet of Metal Composite Material for the tower’s porte cochere.

At the end of 2017, the average U.S. commercial building was just under 50 years old. As buildings age, their facades and systems can begin to degrade or malfunction, and when considering improvements, it is economically beneficial to adapt older buildings instead of constructing new ones. For this reason, building construction is shifting from new construction to retrofits as they aim to deliver energy savings, as well as improve on the building’s appearance. According to the U.S. Green Building Council, 61 percent of all construction projects are retrofits.
