This week, we celebrated the first day of Spring – an occasion worthy of at least a smile. The weather is changing and so are our plans as vaccinations begin rolling out with more frequency. “It seems a natural time to cautiously ease back into “normal” public life or something more closely resembling it.” While many museums have reopened their indoor galleries, some patrons would prefer to “limit their art-related experiences to the outdoors for the time being.” The longer days and nice weather give us the opportunity to spend more time outside including outdoor art installations, sculpture gardens, museum grounds, and more. Click below for a list of parks and cultural institutions worth checking out.

Recommendation: The Structure of Skyscrapers in America 1871-1900
Written By: Donald Friedman
Donald Friedman is a Manhattan-based engineer and a specialist in the structural quirks of historic buildings. Friedman has an unrivaled intimacy with the guts of historic buildings and his experiences led to a new book, The Structure of Skyscrapers in America 1871-1900: Their History and Preservation. The book offers “an extensive journey through 19th-century building technology, much of it obscure and forgotten. The first half of the book explores the forces that led to the construction of the earliest skyscrapers and in the second half, 200-pages document at least 443 early examples of the form. Learn more about the book and a Q&A with the author below.
