Artificial intelligence (AI) is being used in the construction industry to help mitigate pain points such as dealing with the cost of materials. By bridging the gap between areas of concern such as labor and materials, AI aims to create efficiencies. For business owners, AI can support decision-making by providing up-to-the-minute analysis of the latest data, quickly uncovering waste or inefficiencies in processes, and help ensure the value of resources and the impact of initiatives are optimized. This article in Construction Business Owner looks at available AI solutions and how they’re helping companies meet their safety, resource allocation, contract management and finance-related needs.

The long-vacant Hilltop Arms apartment building at 600 Montgomery Street in Montgomery, AL, is being reimagined as a 98-key boutique hotel and conference center. Owned by the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI), the new Elevation Convening Center and Hotel transforms the eight-story, 80,000-square-foot building into a destination for museum visitors and business and casual travelers, while honoring its history and reconnecting it to the community.
The new hotel will include 15,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 200-seat ballroom, a rooftop pool and event area, a meditation garden, and a chef-inspired full-service restaurant. Additionally, a new five-story, 35,000-square-foot reception and conference center will connect to the hotel via a pedestrian bridge.
For this adaptive reuse project, which will open this year, MillerClapperton fabricated and installed 1,100 square feet of Metal Composite Material (MCM) panels and 2,700 square feet of High-Pressure Laminate (HPL) panels.
