#1 RECYCLED MATERIALS

This past Wednesday, Americans across the country came together in a variety of ways to celebrate ‘America Recycles Day’, an initiative of Keep America Beautiful.  It was also an opportunity for MillerClapperton to look at what we’re doing as a company and the products we choose to work with.  We’re proud to represent high-quality cladding materials that are also environmentally friendly.

You may not realize that metal composite material (MCM) panels are comprised of recycled materials.  With Alucobond panels from 3A Composites for example, as much as 52% of the sheets are comprised of recycled content, depending on the width of the panel.  This is important, because reducing the amount of raw materials used means they can reduce their impact on the environment.  For LEED projects, Alucobond materials can provide a significant contribution toward earning LEED certification.

We also work with high-pressure laminate materials from FunderMax, which by their very nature, are made from natural fibers – around 65%, by weight – consisting largely of wood that has been processed into ‘kraft papers’.  This wood is a by-product of sawn lumber production, which is sourced from vendors according to FSC standards, in compliance with internationally applicable rules for sustainable forestry.

We recognize the importance of using and promoting sustainable products and we are pleased to represent a number of manufacturers who embrace these same philosophies.  To learn more about the types of materials we work with or our list of manufacturers, head over to our products page.

#2 IT’S ALMOST THANKSGIVING

With Thanksgiving nipping at our heels, we’d like to take pause and glimpse into the past to honor our late-founder, Ted S. Miller, since Thanksgiving was in fact, his favorite holiday.  It’s a great time of year to look back at the year gone by and to recognize what we are thankful for or even right where we are at this very moment.

We hope you’ll take a moment to read Ted’s blog post from 2009 and honor the spirit of gratitude this holiday.  We wish you and your families a very happy Thanksgiving.

#3 FIELD MEASUREMENT

3D laser scanning has only just reached the early stages of adoption in the building construction industry and MillerClapperton is at the cutting edge of this technology, utilizing a sophisticated form of measurement to improve efficiencies and ensure accurate fabrication and installation of materials.

What used to take three days for a team of two to measure by hand can now be done is as little as one day with a higher degree of accuracy.  The process of laser scanning has become an essential part of our project services, adding significant value by helping to minimize waste and limiting modifications in the field.

#4 PROJECT SPOTLIGHT

Fulton County Water Treatment Office

MillerClapperton completed the recladding of the Fulton County Water Treatment Office located in Alpharetta, Georgia. This project included the demolition of the previous cladding, as well as the fabrication and installation of Reynobond Deep Blue Sea, Metal Composite Material (MCM) panels.  It’s also a project of significance for our company, as it was the very first project we installed ourselves – the first of many, and a reminder of how much we have grown from the early days as a manufacturer’s representative. The project consisted of over 1,400 square-feet of MCM.

Location: Alpharetta, GA
Material: Metal Composite Material
Product: Reynobond
