Architects and designers continue to challenge the limits of design and in particular, they are utilizing curved metal’s organic and fluid shapes to enhance buildings and create visual interest. In the latest article from Metal Architecture Magazine, fabricators, contractors, and architects share some of their biggest challenges and how they successfully manage projects with curved exteriors.  As a result of technological advancements contributing to lower construction costs for more complex designs, curved walls are on the rise and we expect to see a lot more of them. MillerClapperton president, Zeke Miller, also shares what architects can do to get their intended design and how curved radii can affect price.

Star Metals Atlanta is a new mixed-use development in the heart of Atlanta’s West Midtown neighborhood. The project will consist of multi-family residential and retail, in addition to Star Metals’ Offices, a Class A office building directly across the street that will also have ground floor retail. The offices pictured above will feature 227,000 square feet of space with 11-13-ft ceiling and open floor plans for customization. For this project, MillerClapperton is fabricating and installing 48,700 square feet of Metal Composite Material and 60,400 square feet of Profiled Single Skin material.
