IN THIS WEEK’S FRIDAY5

New technologies and material innovations are coming together to create new spaces and experiences. The Institute for Computational Design (ICD) and the Institute of Building Structures and Structural Design (ITKE), together with students from the University of Stuttgart, have created a series of experimental pavilions that are helping to prepare them for computational processes in architecture.

Through the merging of fields such as design, engineering, planning and construction, a foundation is provided for further exploration, with a particular focus on integrative methods for the generation, simulation, and evaluation of information-based and performance oriented models. The structures look at innovation in materials and advanced construction as fundamental aspects of the research activities at ITKE and ICD, and they are evaluated through technological fabrication and development of full scale prototypes. Learn more about the materials and building system being tested, as well as how students are being prepared for advancements in construction below.
