Not surprisingly, air conditioning accounts for 10% of global energy consumption today. It’s not only expensive, it’s costly for the environment too. In 2016 alone, space cooling was responsible for 1045 metric tons of C02 emissions and that number is only expected to increase. To counteract growing consumption, designers are looking at materials and structural solutions that offer passive cooling to ultimately regulate building temperatures energy efficiently. Click below to read how natural materials and even water can help cool buildings in addition to window material and placement.

Recommendation: The Best Books on Architectural History
Compiled By: FiveBooks.com

Leading expert on architecture and historic buildings, Dan Cruickshank recommends the best books on architectural history. He endorses Andrea Palladio’s ‘Four Books on Architecture’ as one of the most important architecture books ever written. If reading four books sounds daunting, it’s actually one book with four chapters, and it’s not as obscure as it sounds. Cruickshank also takes us on a journey of some key English country homes and the poetry of Le Corbusier’s Unite d’Habitation in Marseilles. Check out these recommendations and others below.
