IN THIS WEEK’S FRIDAY5

Each year, high rises grow in stature and compete for the accolades of tallest and grandest in all the land. Today, those boundaries are being pushed to new heights as urban centers grapple with how to manage population growth. So, what does the future hold for these heavily criticized yet constantly developed buildings? Keep reading for how skyscrapers offer apparent solutions to urban challenges, but also face backlash from government officials, residents, and even developers themselves.

Recommendation: 26 Movies Every Design Lover Should See
Compiled By: Architectural Digest

“What is good design if not drama? (Ideally not comedy—or maybe just barely so.) In short, they form a narrative. Design is often similarly fundamental to great filmmaking—in the best cases, it amplifies the director’s intent, then runs away with the microphone for its own sake before dropping it.” Click below for some of the best movies that design lovers (and movie lovers) should see as recommended by Architectural Digest.
