South Beach will be getting its first Target store at the new BLVD at Lenox, located in one of the most traveled commercial areas. The contemporary, 5-story development features more than 82,000 square feet of retail space and 224 parking spaces. It will also be one of the biggest LEED-certified buildings in Miami Beach once its completed. The facade includes an architectural concrete feature wall, as well as other cladding materials, which consists of 5,000 square feet of Metal Composite Material fabricated by MillerClapperton.

Demand for design services in August took a downward turn compared to July’s already soft score dropping to 47.2 from 50.1. Billings in the West stayed modestly positive while all other regions remained in negative territory. The sizeable drop in both design billings and new project activity, plus months of disappointing growth suggest that the design expansion that began in mid-2012 is beginning to face headwinds, according to AIA Chief Economist Kermit Baker.
