#1 POPULAR ARCHITECTURAL MATERIALS – EQUITONE

Which materials and products stand out in 2017?  Several unique materials were recognized in ArchDaily’s most recent line-up, including 3D-shaped Fiber Cement façade panels, which deliver a unique design experience.  Incorporating both tone and texture, Equitone’s ‘linea’ panels play with light and shadow, giving the materials a different appearance as the angle of daylight changes throughout the day.

MillerClapperton fabricates various fiber cement panels from Equitone to meet a project’s unique design requirements, including the ability to create various patterns and shapes.  Working with products like Equitone’s linea, tectiva or natura panels, we are able to help our customers achieve their design intent and bring their unique visions to life.

Equitone panels are available for purchase through RapidMaterials as well as through MillerClapperton, for bids or more complex projects.

#2 DESIGN WITH INSTALLERS IN MIND

What’s the perfect panel length for a MCM panel? We think about 10’-0. Yes, a 16’-0” length can be achieved in most cases, but once a length of 10’-0” is exceeded, additional installation costs and factors come into play. For panels longer than 10’-0” there will be a need for two installation crews, as well as two pieces of equipment, causing fewer panels to be installed per day. So it is in the best interest of a project to keep panels to approximately 10′- 0″ lengths to ensure that a single crew with a single piece of equipment can install a single panel.

As long as panel lengths do not exceed 10′-0″, smaller is not necessarily better. Regardless of size, it takes the same amount of time to install a smaller panel as it does a larger panel, which means with more smaller panels, you increase installation time for the same coverage area. While this seems like a simple concept, the message is clear. If you are concerned about additional costs incurred for installation, use larger panels.
