IN THIS WEEK’S FRIDAY5

ENR Southeast has announced their list of Top Specialty Contractors in 2022 and they share what they’ve heard from specialty firms throughout the region. Despite higher gas prices, inflation, and ongoing supply chain issues, the construction economy in the Southeast has continued to show resilience with “most locations and sectors showing moderate to strong growth.” Many cities in the region are experiencing population growth, which is feeding many market sectors according to one firm.

“Along with traditional urban hot spots of activity, exurbs and rural areas with easy access to transportation networks are welcoming a variety of new automotive and biotechnology complexes.” And, although escalation appears to have slowed, many contractors are riding the wave and navigating how to properly bid projects to ensure costs are covered, particularly as projects get delayed. For the most part, the expectation is that the Southeast region will continue to have a strong market for specialty construction services, though some sectors such as health care, higher education, and student housing are better positioned than others.

MillerClapperton ranked 38 out of 48 in the region for Top Specialty Contractors in 2022 and ranked in the following individual states: Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina. You can view more results by sector here or click below for the complete list.

Some colleges in the United States date as far back as the 17th century, so it’s no surprise that with their vast collections of buildings, some campuses are architectural gems. Earlier styles reflected the Collegiate Gothic movement, then the Federal, neoclassical, and even Romanesque movements. While many universities continue to add more modern builds, “they’ve also worked hard to maintain their visual legacies.” Architectural Digest has gone across the country to find the most beautiful college campuses, taking into consideration both architectural legacy and setting. Keep reading to see if your alma mater made the list.
